Key features
  • Port list — every listening TCP port with port, process name, PID, address, and family (IPv4/IPv6). IPv4/IPv6 twins of the same process are deduped into a single row.
  • OS data source.
  • Search / filter — one box filters instantly by port number, PID, or process name; Esc clears.
  • One-click kill — Windows taskkill /PID n /F /T; macOS/Linux SIGTERM, escalating to SIGKILL after 2s if still alive. Row shows a spinner, fades out, then a +600ms re-poll…
  • Watchlist strip — editable port chips (defaults 3000, 3001, 5173, 8000, 8080, 5432) showing green = free / red = busy(process). Click a busy chip to jump to and kill it;…
  • Row actions — per-row menu: Copy PID / Copy port / Copy kill command (platform-correct) / Kill.

portkill is experimental software shared free of charge. Using it means accepting the terms below in full. If you do not accept them, do not download or run it.

Experimental, unfinished software
This is a personal side project released as an experiment, not a commercial product. It may contain bugs, may behave unpredictably, may stop working after an operating system update, and may be abandoned at any time without notice or migration path.
No warranty of any kind
The software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. No promise is made that it is accurate, reliable, secure, uninterrupted, or error-free.
You accept all risk
You install and run this software entirely at your own risk. Before using it, back up anything you care about. Tools that rename, move, delete, compress, encrypt, sync, or otherwise modify files can cause irreversible data loss if they behave unexpectedly or are used incorrectly.
No liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NixBiz and Anand Bhandari accept no liability for any damages whatsoever — including data loss, corrupted or deleted files, lost profits, business interruption, hardware issues, security incidents, or any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — arising from or connected to your use of, or inability to use, this software.
Unsigned builds and security prompts
Builds are not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen, macOS Gatekeeper, or your antivirus may warn about or block them. Only ever download from an official NixBiz link, and verify anything you run. Never disable your security software on account of this project.
Your data, keys, and third-party services
These tools are designed to run locally, but some features can connect to third-party services you configure yourself. You are responsible for your own API keys, credentials, costs, and for complying with those providers' terms. Any charges you incur with a third-party provider are yours alone.
Not for critical or regulated use
This software is not intended for, and must not be relied on in, any safety-critical, medical, legal, financial, or otherwise regulated setting, nor anywhere failure could cause injury, loss, or legal exposure. It is not a substitute for professional advice or a supported commercial tool.
Free, and no support promised
The software is free to use. There is no service level agreement, no guaranteed support, no guaranteed updates, and no guaranteed compatibility with your system or with future versions.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for using the software lawfully, for respecting the rights of others, and for ensuring your use complies with any policies that apply to your device, employer, or jurisdiction.

These terms sit alongside the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where a project ships its own licence, that licence governs the software itself.
